Uta Hagen – Scene work and Self Tests

Location: Griffith University Film School, South Brisbane, Queensland.

The course is focused on creating realistic performances for the screen, particularly self-tests. We will use Uta Hagen’s techniques and apply them to practical scene work in front of the camera.

We will focus on creating work in a fun and supportive environment. You’ll receive scripts to be shot in class week to week and receive personalised one-on-one coaching.

We will apply inspiring Uta Hagen exercises to scenes and monologues. There will also be a focus on self-tests during the course to help you get your work out there. Together we will find what is important to make a scene believable for you and thrilling to watch.

Professional actors have used this course to strengthen their craft. Participants in this course have gone onto work professionally with the confidence and skill for a fruitful career. This course is also a great way to begin working with me long term to build and maintain your craft as your career grows.

The classes are for dedicated students of acting to can safely and effectively grow their craft. My influences are Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, Howard Fine,  Larry Moss, Ivana Chubbuck, Eric Morris and Sanford Meisner. I love to help actors create rich dramatic truthful work and see them prosper. I enjoy working with dedicated individuals ready to work with me again and again to gather momentum in their careers.
